DIY Christmas Ornaments: Rae Dunn inspired

Our Dollar Tree has a pretty epic craft section. I found this pack of “chalkboard” tags when I visited last week.

I had a chalk pen left over from a previous project. I love Rae Dunn and I knew I wanted to create something similar to her stuff.

The result?

I am planning to use them for Christmas gift tags. They’d make wonderful ornaments too.

Go to your local Dollar Tree right now and get some of these chalkboard rounds- you can make so many cool things with them.

Home tour soon!! Stay tuned!

Cute Christmas Finds at Dollar General

I love Christmas decor at places like Hobby Lobby, but I don’t always love the price.

Did you know you can find lower priced, but still cute decor at discount stores? Some of my favorites are Dollar General and Aldi (yes, the grocery store). Today, I am sharing some of my favorite recent Dollar General finds.

All of the items I am about to show you are $8 or less.

1. Christmas bucket with “leather” handles

How cute would this be on a porch with a faux tree in it? Or maybe on a fire place hearth with birch logs in it.

2. Red plaid table runner

I love this so much- the colors in it are so festive. I’d love to pair this with some green chargers and some Christmas china.

3. Red plaid “Merry Christmas” pillow

This pillow is so pretty and the price is perfect. I bought one for my mud room entry.

4. Tabletop Nativity

This table top nativity has everything I love- warm wood, metal and Jesus. It’s perfect!

5. Faux book stack

Who doesn’t want this cute little “book stack?” I love everything about it.

I hope you enjoyed these Christmas goodies! You may even want to go visit your local DG and see what goodies you can find.

Spring Decor at Dollar General

]

Spring is right around the corner…but if the groundhog can be believed, spring will come early this year. The recent warm temperatures have made me wish more and more for spring. Currently, my home is still decorated for winter, so I’m anxious to put up the snowmen and bring out the florals! While Hobby Lobby and some of the other craft stores have beautiful decor options, sometimes they’re a bit hard on your wallet. Enter Dollar General: cheap, but cute spring decor.

These cute little succulent pots are only $2! I am definitely going to snatch some of those up.

If you don’t like those, here is another option. These square “concrete” succulents are adorable. I may buy a few of those, too.

You could use this to put ice and drinks in for a party or cookout, or you could plant flowers in it. Put it in your laundry room and use it to corral your detergent containers. So many possibilities.

These little bud vases remind me of Rae Dunn. They’re cute and they’re colorful. I love them!

You know how much I love signs and quotes. I’d love to get this and put it in my daughter’s rooms. Isn’t it cute?

This isn’t necessarily a spring decor item, but I do love it. Dollar General always has some cute coffee mugs.

What cute, but cheap spring decor are you jonesin’ for?

Dollar Store Christmas Decor

If you’ve been a reader here for very long, you know a few things about me:

1. I love signs with quotes and verses

2. I have champagne taste on a tap water budget

3. I am addicted to the dollar stores.

Have you been to Dollar General lately? If you read my post about their fall decor, then you probably have already checked out their Christmas decor. If you haven’t, you should. It’s cute and cheap, which is how I like my decor.

These tree skirts are adorable and would look great with any farmhouse themed tree. You could easily remove the red snowflake from the first one if you wanted. And who doesn’t love red ticking stripe? Such a classic look.

This burlap stocking is so cute!

I love a cute Santa ornament and this fellow is rather unique with his dark outfit. There were several Santa’s.

These lanterns are beautiful and no one will ever know they are from a dollar store.

I bet you knew I’d put a red truck in here somewhere! Check out this advent calendar.

You know I love wood signs- here are three pretty ones.

And these big, old bells would be amazing on a wreath.

I hope you enjoyed these Christmas dollar store finds as much as I did! Have a wonderful Monday!

Budget Fall Decor at The Dollar Tree

This weekend, the girls and I visited a new Dollar Tree location with my aunt and grandma. Like most stores right now, they have a mixture of Halloween, fall and Christmas decor…and there are a lot of pretty items to choose from. I managed to buy a few things and I’ve already earmarked a few nice items for Christmas.

Take a look at the pretties I found (and comment below if you happen to make a Dollar Tree visit of your own to share your finds.”

1. Fall themed drinking glass

When I was in college, all of my plates, cups, and bowls came from the Dollar Tree! They sell sturdy, attractive glassware and no one will know where you bought it.

I think these drinking glasses would look great on your fall table for their intended purpose, but I think they’d be cute fall tea light holders, too.

2. Paper party ware

Dollar Tree is a great place to purchase party ware. These thanksgiving themed plates and napkins are just as cute as the $5 you can buy elsewhere.

3. Glass candle holders

These glass candle holders are simple, cute and perfect for your fall table. I love the one on the right!!

4. Primitive poke berries

I’ve bought these poke berry garlands at craft stores for $6-$8 dollars before! These are cute and offered in both white and red. I already have a project in mind for them.

5. Burlap pumpkins and glass pumpkins

I have about a million of these things- they’re so cute and you can use them so many different ways to decorate.

6. Fall themed platters

I have a lot of fall themed plates because as a southern woman, we tend to have a lot of church get togethers. These seasonal plates are nice for taking dessert items to church dinners.

7. Kitchen textiles

These fall themed towels are cute!

I hope you have enjoyed our fall decor picks from Dollar Tree. What cute budget friendly decor have you stumbled upon lately?
