Fitness Fridays: tasty, lower calorie Super Bowl snacks

While most of us are probably not having a Super Bowl party, many of us are still making food and enjoying the game with our immediate family.

Most of the well known super bowl party fare is delicious but fatty and high in calories. However, this doesn’t have to ruin the fun for those of us making dietary and lifestyle changes.

Here are a few lower calorie options we can enjoy without making a huge splurge.

1. Skinny taco dip

Click here for this recipe. One serving suggestion is to put a little dip on your own plate instead of eating directly from the bowl. This way, you eat less and it’s safer too.

2. Buffalo rotisserie chicken quesadilla

Yum yum! Rotisserie chickens are easily available and already cooked. Just grab one or two and make this tasty recipe.

3. White Chicken Chili

This is a healthier version of my chili beans that I like to make. Here’s the recipe.

4. skinny gluten free not-fried chicken tenders

These chicken tenders are way fewer calories than the traditional ones. You can find the recipe here.

What are your favorite skinny appetizers?

Organize your home with one trip to the hardware store

Organize your home with one trip to the

Most people know you can organize your home with products from the Dollar Tree, but did you know you can also find a number of great organizing ideas at your local hardware store?

Some of the ideas you may find have been on Pinterest for awhile, such as the teacher desk toolbox organizer, or the tackle box battery organizer.

There are a number of other cheap and easy organization hacks in the aisles of your local hardware store- you just need to think outside the box a little.

PVC pipe is inexpensive and can be used to craft a number of things, such as this laundry hamper.

You can also use PVC pipe to make organizing cubbies.

You can also use pegboard to organize almost anything. I’m currently coveting this blogger’s craft room, where all the wrapping paper and paper crafting supplies are within reach. Who knew pegboard could look so cute?

How about a makeup organizer made from framed sheet metal?

While creating this roundup, I was impressed by the adaptability of each one of these ideas, and how they can be used for more than one room. I was also impressed by the beauty and simplicity of each craft. I plan to try one or more of these in the near future. I can’t wait to share which one it will be!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Make it Monday: mason jar succulent planter

Make it Monday: mason jar succulent planter

Now that Christmas has come and gone, I find myself wanting to make lots of floral and nature-themed crafts. I guess I just be looking forward to spring!! I recently acquired some tiny mason jars and was itching to make Something with them.

I spotted these succulent picks at Dollar Tree and knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I got out a block of floral foam and cut it the same size as the jar.

Then, I used some white chalk paint to paint the jar white.

I then inserted the floral foam into the jar.

Then, I just inserted the floral pick into the foam, and glued moss on the foam to hide it.

I’m loving how cute and simple this is. The perfect amount of farmhouse charm!

What floral crafts have you done lately?

Life as a Lumber: what we’ve been up to

Get ready to read the most boring “ what we’ve been up to” you’ve ever read. Why is it boring? Because my household caught Covid and we have been up absolutely nothing. Except resting, drinking fluids and trying to feel better.

Check out Emorie’s new shirt! She got it for Christmas and we love it!

On Monday, we woke up to one of the scariest storms I’ve ever seen. I live in North Carolina, so I have seen some pretty scary storms. The wind was howling and it was pouring rain. Mid morning, that turned into snow! It didn’t last long, but it was pretty. This was taken from my classroom window.

I posted this on Instagram last week before it snowed. It was accurate, since we went straight from 75 degree days to wind and snow 🤣🤣

My ten year old no longer wants to wear hair bows, so she passed all of hers to my six year old. I had no idea we had so many bows.

We always have the traditional New Years meal with my mother-in-law’s family, but this year, she and my father-in-law delivered the meals to family. It was still delicious.

We were invited to go skating last weekend by some sweet friends. The girls didn’t quite get the hang of it, but they had fun.

I had some gift cards to spend from Christmas, so I bought this picture. It has silkies on it, so it’s perfect for me. They look just like our chickens.

We are on the mend over here, but still quarantined. Thanks for sticking with me and reading to the end of that boring post. Hope to see you next weekend with a more interesting post.
