Five Friday Favorites: Fun rainy day activities for kids

I don’t know about you, but we have had a rash of rainy days recently. Rainy days in themselves are not bad, but entertaining small children during bad weather days can be difficult.

We have some tried and true favorite toys and activities that work like a dream when you can’t go outside and get your wiggles out.

1. Melissa and Doug Modern Multilevel farmhouse

My girls got this dollhouse for Christmas- it’s all wooden, easy to put together, and it comes with 19 pieces of furniture. My kids love it and they play with it all the time, especially my little one. You will have to buy some people to go with it, as it doesn’t come with people. You can also buy more furniture for it if you choose to. It is rather large, so you may want to keep that in mind if you have a smaller space.

2.Colour Talk DIY Oil Painting, for kids

Just like Colour Talk Paint by Number kits for adults, these color by number kits for kids are amazing! And who doesn’t want to paint this super cute little panda?

3. KumiKreator Friendship Bracelet Maker

The KumiKreator Friendship Bracelet Maker is a lot of fun for your older child. My daughter is very artistic and loves to create things. She has three different bracelet making kits that she uses. She has even started to make and sell some of her bracelets. It’s easy to use, but it does contain a lot of small pieces (in case you have young children in your home).

4. “How to Draw” books for kids

My oldest daughter loves to draw and is constantly learning how to draw more things. She and her younger sister have enjoyed this drawing book. There are many choices, if you don’t want to learn to draw animals. The book is inexpensive at only $7.

5. Work a puzzle!

Kids love puzzles! At my house, we all love puzzles. We work them together in our family room. You can work a puzzle like this one that has a little something for everyone. There are large pieces for smaller hands and smaller pieces for adults. The entire family can work on this puzzle together.

What are your favorite rainy day/cold weather activities?

You sound like one of the fun mommies out there, love that. My two children are all grown up now so I miss those rainy day play days with them. We used to play games like the one where little fish go around and you have to catch them. We also had picnics in our living room with blankets and pillows everywhere, so much fun.
