DIY Kate Spade Inspired Desk Boxes

I have loved the Kate Spade office line since it came out, and I especially loved these cute storage boxes.

But I couldn’t see myself paying $54 for three cardboard boxes.

I had three shoeboxes at home from recent purchases.

I also picked up these items:

I quickly broke out that gold spray paint and I painted those shoe box lids.

I gave those bookplates a good spray, too.

Then, I painted the box bottoms black.

And when they dried, I taped them with painter’s tape where I wanted the gold stripes.

Then I sprayed away with that gold spray paint.

I then allowed the paint time to dry and peeled off the tape. I attached the bookplates.

How’s this for a designer dupe, folks?

Have a great week! Next week I’ll show you where I’m using these boxes.
