2025 word of the year

I thought long and hard about my 2025 word of the year. You might say I even agonized over it. I just could not decide what I wanted it to be.

Words of the year for us aren’t just a word- it’s an area of focus. Last year, my word was “seek,” and I decided to focus on seeking the will and word of God before anything else. There were times when I succeeded, and times when I failed.

This year, I want to focus on having wisdom. Too often, I approach a situation with what I think is a good solution, but sometimes I have a knee jerk reaction and react poorly. I want to do a better job of praying over situations and exercising wisdom over will.

In the book of James, God said, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5)

Will I have wisdom in every single situation? No. Not even close. But God will help me to have wisdom if I’m willing to ask for it.

What is your word of the year for 2025?
