Mama Mondays: simplifying school lunchboxes

Happy Monday to you! Our school year was supposed to begin last week, but Hurricane Debby delayed things. We are beginning today instead.

At our school, kids have the option to order a lunch, or bring a lunch from home. My children usually opt to pack a lunch, and I most certainly do (gluten-free, dairy free chick here). This year, we are in a lunch rut. I have scoured Pinterest looking for lunch ideas, and have repeatedly asked my kids what they want. I want to share some of the ideas we have come up with, however, I am constantly seeking new ideas if you’d like to share any.

For starters, I ordered each of us a bento box.

I love the yogurt bowls at Tropical Smoothie cafe, but I do not love the price. The bowl is also way too big for me to eat it all. I decided to try to create my own on a smaller scale. This yogurt, granola and fruit bowl looks delicious and it has fewer carbs than Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s bowls.

Lunch charcuterie anyone? My oldest loves beef sticks, cheese and crackers, so this is what we made for her lunch. The Food Lion container is a yogurt.

Don’t want crackers? How about rolled up lunch meat and pepperoni.

This is a take on the previous lunch, minus the cheese and crackers. The fruit and yogurt are still there.

Canned tuna, cheese sticks, carrots, tomatoes, and grapes make up this bento box lunch.

We are constantly looking for more lunch ideas, so please comment with any ideas you may have.
