What a short, but busy summer! I changed schools this year, and my new school’s schedule is about three weeks ahead of my old one. This means that I got out of school three weeks later than my previous one and went back to school three weeks earlier than my previous one. I only ended up with about 7 weeks of summer versus my usual 10. We still managed to accomplish a lot and have a lot of fun.
Last day of school

Leaving my former school was bittersweet and there are so many people I am going to miss. I am nearby, so I can still pop by and visit. I am excited about the new school and new opportunities.
Dance recital

Just after my last day of school, our new studio celebrated its first annual recital, in which my children played special roles (each of the competition dancers had a special role). All of the dancers did so well and it was a good time.
E went to camp, we went to the water park

E aged out of Centrikid, so she was able to go to the teen version, Centrifuge this year. While she was gone, some sweet friends invited A and I to go with them to our local water park. We had a blast and the kids did too! We missed E terribly, but she had so much fun and I’m glad she got to go.
E’s 13th birthday

We attempted to throw a surprise party for E’s birthday, but we were unable to keep her from finding out. She still had a blast celebrating with her friends, dance family, and church family. It was one of the hottest days of the year but we had a great time.
Fun visit with cousins

I have some sweet cousins who live a few hours away. Our kids are the same ages and had never met. We all got together for lunch and a visit to the Greensboro Science Museum. It was miserably hot but we had a blast, and our kids enjoyed one another. We look forward to more fun visits!
Trip to Nashville, TN

Dance nationals was held in Nashville, TN this year and we made a vacation of it. The actual competition was great- our team placed third in the Turbulence Showdown, and all of our numbers showed tremendous growth. We also visited many of Nashville’s famous spots, such as the Music City Walk of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium, and the famous Broadway strip.
A’s first time at camp

Our youngest is finally old enough to attend Centrikid camp. I went with her, since I wasn’t quite ready to let her go away to camp by herself. I enjoyed the experience almost as much as the kids did! She is already looking forward to returning.
Until next summer…
We already have plans for next summer- we will be taking a trip to Florida, and both kids will be attending camp again. We have had a quick, but busy summer and I’m grateful for all we were able to do.
