NC Piedmont Short Hikes: Ebenezer Recreation Area at B. Everett Jordan Lake

This weekend, the weather was warm and sunny. We were actually preparing our garden plot for planting season, (we will be planting in about a month), so we are knee deep in prep work.

Lowe’s has all sorts of fencing

We needed some fun, fresh scenery and sunshine, so we decided to head over to B. Everett Jordan Lake. Jordan Lake is about 25 minutes from our house and it’s a place that is dear to me heart. I spent a lot of time there as a kid- I hiked there, played on the beaches and spent a lot of time on my dad’s boat. I’ve made a lot of good memories there.

We tried to hike a different trail, but it was closed, so we decided to go to Ebenezer Church Recreation Area. The trail there is about a thirty minute hike, and it’s very easy. We have one teen and one younger child and she did fine with it.

This trail has some beautiful views of the lake, and one part even circles a small pond. There are historical markers all along the trail that explain the history of Ebenezer Church. The ruins of the original church building are located on the trail as well.

It took us about 40 minutes to walk the entire loop and we even stopped a few times to take some pictures.

We even had time to visit the little beach for a moment and watch the seagulls.
