Dollar Store Crafts: Handmade Ornaments

Every year, we make several ornaments to add to our tree. We try to find ornament ideas that are cheap, fun to make and cute! My little girls loved making these snowman ornaments! We made them largely from things we already had on hand.

These empty glass ornaments are available almost anywhere, and you can find packs of four of them at almost any dollar store. We used one of these, but you will also need the following items:

an orange pipe cleaner to bend and create the carrot nose, white glue (we used Modge Podge), buttons for the eyes, a baby sock for the hat, and epsom salt. You can also paint the Christmas ornament white (we did).

First, we painted the ornaments white by pouring paint inside them and swirling the ornament until it was painted completely.

We then coated the outside of the ornament with white glue and rolled it in the epsom salt. You may need to do this more than once to completely cover the ornament. Just allow 12 hours between coats to dry.

We then glued the buttons, carrot nose, and the sock hat to the snowball. When we finished, we had this cute little snowman ornament.

Share your cute and homemade ornaments with us!

Tune in Saturday for our favorite Christmas traditions.
