Memorial Day Craft: How to Make a Paint Stick Flag

Are you looking for a super easy and cheap folk art craft to do with your kiddos? Look no further than your local hardware store. Paint stir sticks are cheap and can be used to make so many cute things.

In the picture below, you will see everything needed to make a paint stick flag:

Simply glue your paint sticks together like this: lay two paint stir sticks vertically and glue the remaining sticks horizontally so that they cross the vertical sticks. I used hot glue for this, but craft glue may hold better.

Once the glue is dry, paint your sticks to look like an American flag. I used white star stickers, but if you’d prefer, you could paint or draw your stars.

So there you have it- a folk art inspired wood stick flag!

I’m Angi. Let’s be friends!

Welcome to Lumber in my Minivan, a blog about adventures, (and sometimes MISadventures), in parenting, DIY, and home life. I’m a Christian, a wife, a mother of two daughters, a teacher, a southerner, an amateur farmer and woodworker, a coffee lover, and an animal lover. Life without music is pointless and outside is my favorite place to be. I’m so glad you stopped by- pour yourself a large cup of coffee, put your feet up, and stay awhile!

I’d love to connect with you!
