21-Day Challenge Kickoff Day!!

21-Day Challenge Kickoff Day!!

Do you know what day it is? It’s kickoff day for our annual 21-day organizing challenge! This week, I’ll be sharing my own cleaning and organizing challenges, as well as showing you my progress….and offering a few tips along the way.

Remember, you don’t have to do an entire room or an entire dresser, closet or cabinet. You can focus on a small part of a room or closet, or even one shelf or some drawer. It’s completely up to you.

I really need to tidy up our entry way and I’ll be sharing that tomorrow.

I also need to pay some serious attention to the cabinets underneath our kitchen sink and the girls’ bathroom sink cabinet.

Our pantry needs some work as well.

The playroom just got purged and organized after Christmas, so it just needs to be straightened up.

And lastly, our linen closet. It used to be so neat and now it’s in need of a serious straightening up.

So, now you know what I’ll be sharing on the blog this week. Happy organizing, and don’t forget to share your progress on Instagram with the hashtag #ons21daychallenge.

Have a wonderful week!!

21-day organizing challenge: kitchen cabinet woes

My kitchen cabinets weren’t too shabby, since I’d just organized them last year. They were in need of a little attention, though.

Our kitchen sink cabinet was looking a bit cluttered and crammed full. I took everything out of it and wiped it out. I then moved the stool, candle tarts and dish towels back to their proper places.

Isn’t that way better?

Then, I tackled some other cabinets. I got rid of all the broken or stained plastic ware, and all the extra lids. I straightened our serveware cabinets

And I threw away and/or donated any outgrown baby items and straightened the girls’ cabinets.

Before:

After:

I straightened our medicine cabinet, and even added bin labels.

I also straightened our spices and seasonings cabinet.

After:

Other cabinets of ours just needed a little TLC but nothing major.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our kitchen cleaning extravaganza. And remember, there’s still time to get in on the #21dayorganizingchallenge! Just share your before and after pics on Instagram with the hashtag above!

Have a great week.

Under the sink: practical and cheap organization

Under the sink: practical and cheap organization

Our daughters’ bathroom needed some serious organization beneath the sink.

The vanity cabinet is a nice size, but there is only a big cavernous space to put things. I wanted to make a better use of the space.

I purchased a riser, and put a large bucket on top of the riser to hold our cleaning supplies. I put towels under the riser and purchased a plastic drawer unit for the opposite side.

I put two baskets atop the drawers for baby wipes and extra toiletries.

The top drawer holds baby items for our youngest daughter, and the second drawer holds our oldest daughter’s belongings.

The bottom drawer holds miscellaneous items that both our girls use.

We also have two vanity drawers where we stash hair bows and tooth brushes.

How have you organized your bathroom?
