5 Friday Favorites: Christmas edition

Copy of Simplify tips

The big day is finally less than a week away! I am trying to finish my Christmas shopping, packing for travels, and cleaning my house. School has been out for a week now for my oldest daughter, and today, my school let out for winter break. Bring on the Christmas movies and sweet girl cuddles, the Christmas gifts and the downtime!!

It’s been a long time since I did a “Five Friday Favorites” post, so I am going to share a Christmas themed Five Friday Favorites with you today. I hope you will enjoy these and even comment with a few of your own favorites.

1. DECOR: Tree Farm Truck Christmas Countdown Plaque

This countdown plaque is absolutely adorable, and it contains my favorite red truck! I absolutely love it! I want one.

2. Clothing: Christmas leggings

leggings

I don’t often wear leggings, but these adorable and cheap leggings from Walmart are some of the comfiest things I’ve encountered in a long time. I bought mine for a little over $5- there are certainly more expensive options, but as little as I wear them, the cheaper option works just fine. You really ought to check them out!

3. Christmas movies: Home Alone

home alone

Does this movie ever get old? Not in my house, where we watch it several times during the Christmas season. My children love it as much as I do, and they have a blast laughing at it and even quoting the lines. Do you have a favorite Christmas movie in your home?

4. Christmas traditions: baking and decorating cookies

cookies

In our house, we have many favorite Christmas traditions, but baking and decorating cookies is a big one. My girls are now old enough to help mix the dough, roll it out and cut it out. We enjoy the bonding time, but we also enjoy the tasty cookies. Maybe someday I’ll even share my recipes.

5. Christmas song: “The Christmas Waltz” by Karen Carpenter

It isn’t even Christmas time in my opinion until I hear this song. And what’s more fun than belting it out while you’re decking the halls? Or wrapping presents? Try it- it’s fun!!

What are some of your Christmas favorites? Check us out next week for some final Christmas fun 🙂

Five Friday Favorites: Favorite Fall Fun Activities that Dont Cost You a Dime

Fall is my favorite season. It’s not only a beautiful time of year with the changing leaves, but there are so many fun things you can do. I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you today. The best thing about all of these is that they don’t cost you a dime.

1. Enjoy a spectacular fall sunset

Do you have a porch with an amazing view? Do you have an amazing view? Then go outside, enjoy a hot cup of coffee or an iced tea, and enjoy the beautiful sunset. North Carolina truly has some amazing sunsets- I try to pause and enjoy it every so often.

2. Make a fire and roast some marshmallows

Your fire pit doesn’t have to be fancy. Just a ring of rocks will do. My kids love to make s’mores and they look forward to this every year.

3. Go hiking or trail running

My favorite running buddy and I love to hit a trail when the weather cools off. Even if you aren’t a runner, you still may enjoy taking a brisk walk on a trail. Either way, a trail walk or run doesn’t cost a thing!!

4. Check out the pretty fall foliage

The leaves burst into some beautiful colors this time of year. Take a walk or take a drive and enjoy the beauty.

5. Visit a pumpkin patch

This one may or may not cost money. If you know someone who has a pumpkin farm, you may get to choose your pumpkin for free, but local farms and pumpkin patches will likely charge admission. The good news is farms that charge admission often offer other activities, such as hayrides, corn mazes, or foods.

I hope you enjoy this edition of Five Friday Favorites!! Have a wonderful weekend.

Five Friday Favorites: Five Things I’m Loving Right Now

I have to admit, I had an entirely different post in mind for today, but I’ve seen so many cool things lately, it’s almost sinful not to share them. Today, I just want to share these treasures with you all.

1. Old fashioned Coca-Cola cooler from Tractor Supply

How cute would this look on my back porch? I would love to have this thing iced down, with a bunch of Cokes in glass bottles.

2. This extra large lantern from Pier One

I want two of these to put on my front porch. I love the cozy farmhouse vibe these give, and I can just picture them on our fireplace hearth. I love them!

QJ3-navy-shift-dress

3. This shift dress from Marley Lilly is simple, cute, and it’d be nice and cool in our sweltering North Carolina heat. I can just see it now with a pair of white Jack Rogers.

farmhouse-galvanized-decorative-pitcher

4. This galvanized farmhouse pitcher  is not only delightfully cute, it’s remarkably affordable, too.

Does anyone else love pitchers? I have so many already and I always want to buy more. This one would be super cute this fall with some sunflowers or black eyed Susans in it.

anthro soap

5. This Classic Mistral bar soap from Anthropologie smells great and it looks beautiful. The packaging is almost too pretty to open. I love to keep it in my hall bathroom for guests to use!!!

Have a wonderful, awesome weekend.
