Fun fall crafts: make a toilet plunger tree

Recently, we went to see my aunt and my grandmother. Both are extremely talented crafters. My aunt made this adorable little fall tree from dollar store goodies.

My aunt’s little fall tree

Hers turned out so cute, I had to ask how she made it. They are fairly simple to make and easily made from what you see in the picture.

Toilet plunger, old bucket or basket, floral foam, fall florals, jute twine and Spanish moss

Apparently I buy waaaaay too much crafting stuff, because I already had all of this on hand. Except the plunger. My aunt did gift me the plunger.

First, add your plunger to your bucket or basket. Seriously. Just set it in there.
Cut your floral foam carefully and add it to the bucket until the plunger is steady.
Begin attaching your foliage to the top of the plunger. Keep adding foliage until you get the look you’re after.
Lastly, wrap your plunger or “tree trunk” with the twine. I hot -glued mine. Then, hide the floral foam with some Spanish moss.

And voila! Enjoy your cute little tree! I may add lights to mine.

This was easy and fun to make!

Adventures in Remodeling: our biggest project ever!

Our playroom used to look like this.

A week ago, it looked like this:

And now it looks like this:

And all of our kitchen stuff is in one corner:

Our kitchen, which looked like this last week,

Now looks like this:

And our dining room used to look like this:

Now it looks like this:

So what exactly is going on at the Boone house? To sum it up, we are shifting all rooms to the left. The former kitchen will become a laundry and mud room that looks like this:

We have saved money for this project for seven years and we’re beyond excited to see it become a reality.

Stay tuned! We’ve made a lot of progress but we still have so far to go!

Fall Wood Crafts You Can Make Right Now

Hi, all! We have begun a renovation project right now and things in our lives and our home are a bit crazy. Instead of walking you through a woodworking project this week, I am going to instead share some simple and easy wood crafts anyone can do.

1. Candy corn from scrap wood- Megan Plus Five

This candy corn by Megan Plus Five is cute and would be simple to make. Plus, I have a lot of scrap wood I could use.

2. Wooden post pumpkins

I found these cute 4×4 post pumpkins on Etsy. I have an extra 4×4 sitting around and this would be super easy to make!

3. Scrap wood pumpkin- The Summery Umbrella

This cute little pumpkin would be easy to make! I like the wood slide stem and burlap bow too.

4. Pallet wood sign

You have probably seen these little pallet signs all over Pinterest. You can make them for every season and holiday- these are especially cute.

5. DIY Wood Block House

I found this super cute house on Pinterest, and even though it’s not necessarily fall, it still would be a super cute addition to your fall decor.

Hope you enjoyed this roundup! We will see you Saturday!

Happy Fall Y’all!! 2020 Fall Home Tour

I know it isn’t quite fall yet; it won’t be fall until the 22nd. However, after the year we have had, I am into doing whatever brings me joy these days. Fall decorating brings me joy- our home is the most beautiful to me when it’s decorated for fall and Christmas. So I decided to decorate early…and I am so glad I did it.

I’m not going to show you every single room in our home, nor am I going to show you every fall decor item. Consider this our highlight reel.

Our living room is one of my favorite rooms to decorate, now that we built the fireplace. I love the orange pillows against the navy plaid chairs. We topped our mantle off with a fall garland, pumpkins, simple white candlesticks and candles, and a fall wreath from my family.

Here’s a close up of our fireplace mantle.
Fall pillows and a cozy throw on the couch, pumpkins and fall flowers on the coffee table.
Here is our side table in the living room.
Here is another view of the living room.

We also have fall pillows and a throw made from my dad’s T-shirts on our family room sofa.

A fall throw and comfy pillows make our family room cute and cozy.
The family room coffee table also includes this adorable fall vignette with a lantern, vase of fall flowers and acorns.

Our two bathrooms have these pipe shelves, and we have decorated both of them for fall.

Our kitchen, which is under renovation, has a tiny bit of fall decor as well. This pitcher belonged to my great grandmother and I bet she’d love to know I am using it.

Lastly, our dining room is particularly lovely this time of year. My favorite things in the room are this fall runner I bought last year and a set of pretty placemats my grandmother gave me.

Daisy is trying to blend in and appear part of the decor.
She is pretty enough to be decorative.
Our sidebar has a little fall treatment too.

I hope you have a blessed day, and I will see you again this Friday for a post from a special guest.

Have a wonderful day!!
