Scripture Sunday: 1 Peter 5:7

Before I dive into what God has led me to share with you, let me offer a brief disclaimer. I am only a Christian human being, who, like everyone else, struggles and messes up daily. I’m not an expert, I’m not a preacher, and I’m not a Bible scholar. I’m just an imperfect human being who wants to share how God has blessed me. This post isn’t intended to preach to or shame anyone. Believe me, I need this message more than anyone.

I struggle daily with anxiety and worry. I am far from the only one, as anxiety plagues many of us. I wish I had an “off switch” so I could just turn it off when it gets the better of me.

We know it isn’t that simple. I’m currently doing a bit of a self led topical Bible study on anxiety. Don’t misunderstand what I’m saying there- I am still continuing therapy, medication and self-care to manage my anxiety, but in order to truly be rooted in God, I need to trust in him to help me as well.

The upcoming school year makes me anxious, both as a teacher and as a parent. After the last two school years, I’m very worried about everything that could potentially go wrong.

The Bible has a lot to say about worry AND anxiety. I’ve decided, as I’ve been studying, to make 1 Peter 5:7 my verse for this school year.

I need this verse to serve as a reminder to pray about the things that make me anxious. God already knows all of our worries and struggles; he’s just waiting on us to give them to Him.

Please share your memory verse for this school year below- I’d love to know them!
